Free Client Seminar

Tuesday, 17 November 2026 | 5.30pm – 6.30pm
In person at Pippa Colman Family Law Office, 19 First Avenue, Maroochydore QLD 4558

Seminar overview

Separated parents who can't agree on arrangements for their children still have several options. Going to court is only one of them, and is usually a last resort. This seminar walks parents through every option, from simple written agreements to mediation to parenting orders, so they can choose the right step for their family.

Who it's for: separated or separating parents, grandparents and carers who are stuck on arrangements for children, where they live, time with each parent, schooling, health, travel or relocation.

What attendees will take away:

  • A plain-English understanding of how Australian family law decides parenting matters, centred on the child's best interests

  • The options available when agreement breaks down, and the pros, cons, costs and timeframes of each

  • What Family Dispute Resolution involves and when a section 60I certificate is needed

  • Practical steps they can take now to protect their children and their position

The Host

This event is hosted by our experienced family law Director, Samantha Bolton.

Samantha has extensive experience in parenting matters throughout Queensland. She sits on Legal Aid Queensland’s Independent Children’s Lawyer and Separate Representative panels. Through those panels she is appointed to complex parenting cases in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and the Children’s Court, which gives her first-hand insight into how parenting disputes are decided. She is an elected Councillor of the Queensland Law Society, a sessional lecturer at the University of the Sunshine Coast, and a former President of the Sunshine Coast Law Association.
